Mumbai rises, but mumbaikars rise very early, literally! People in this city know how to count the day hours relying on the bus timing and the local trains' timings. Well now that I have started working (coming out of the safe shelter of university), I am too part of this schedule making. One week passed by since the day I joined my company, and now I am in a state do decide my train and bus timings to reach on time.
The virtual system of timing drives every human being here, rags to riches, and there's no escape from it. For a girl like me, coming from a small city Ranchi, its a challenge to take and it very much reminds me of Charles Darwings "Survivival of the fittest" postulate as when you see the train comiong, the mob's potential energy gets converted into kinetic energy and you have to be smart enough to fetch a postion in that mob to get into the train. Well there are first class compartments also, but it does not make much difference when the concept of transfer of energy is applied. And, now that you are inside the local train compartment, then comes the fight for a seat. four seating in a seat for three is often found in this country of 'Jugaad', but there is a system of seating here for four as well. Oh man! Why so much of burden when you have a sure shot chance of getting a seat in another 20 minutes. Well here I apologize, because for those who spend more than hour in the train, I have no idea of their sufferings, but I genuinely sympathize with them. This city is the ray of hope to millions and they are sure of earning their bread and butter here, if nowhere else in the country. This challenge to learn it the hard way is reasonable as my B-school education is yet to complete but the real education that can be imparted from this city was imminent. When I see the honchos from the city, evidently many of them have found opportunities from the walking road, and made full utilization of it. Be it the Dabbawala, or my inspiration Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani, those who could find opportunities in their expedition to success, have met it, sooner or later. I too am on my way to find worth to give the best out of me to this world and especially this city. Thus, getting into the system is a good feeling indeed.
